Frederik Pohl (1919-2013) was professionally involved in the sf field as an editor (of Galaxy), literary agent, fan and author. Among the sf books he acquired for Bantam were Joanna Russ’s The Female Man and Samuel Delany’s Dhalgren. He is perhaps best remembered for his 1977 novel Gateway. "Elegy to a Dead Satellite: Luna" (October 1937 Amazing), as by Elton V Andrews, was his first published piece.
