Joseph Conrad (1857 – 1924) was the author of Heart of Darkness (1899), Lord Jim (1900), and The Secret Agent (1907), among other classic novels. Ford Madox Ford (1873–1939; he also wrote as Ford M. Hueffer) was a novelist, poet, critic ,and editor whose journals The English Review and The Transatlantic Review were important in the development of early 20th-century English and American literature.
