Booth Tarkington (1869–1946) was a bestselling American author best remembered for The Magnificent Ambersons (1918) and Alice Adams (1921), both of which won the Pulitzer Prize, as well as for Penrod (1914), a collection of comic sketches about the titular 11-year-old boy, and its many sequels.
