Earlier this winter, the incomparable Ryuichi Sakamoto sent out a call on Twitter for 15-second field recordings of the syllable “hā” from which he would compose a piece honoring Laurie Anderson. This being the sort of call that Eye Candy cannot resist, we immediately sent in some hā’s; which was hā-rder than it sounds. The composition premiered on February 3rd at Joe’s Pub in New York’s Public Theater, at a Gala celebrating Anderson’s life and work.
