While researching illustrations for HILOBROW’s series of Radium Age poems, I came across the New York Public Library’s trippy BUTTERFLIES collection of cigarette cards, c. 1920s.
If Mark Kingwell and I were to coauthor a fourth glossary, I’d like to tackle knowing, cogitation, analysis, interpretation, truth…. To that end, when I use WordHippo, I’ll sometimes capture relevant clusters of supposedly synonymous terms.
George Wentworth and David Eugene Smith were the authors of many early twentieth-century mathematical textbooks. I came across this esoteric-style logo of theirs while researching illustrations for the Radium Age Poetry series here at HILOBROW.
