SCREENSHOTS (6-23)

SCREENSHOTS is a monthly series of posts via which HILOBROW’s Josh Glenn reviews his most recent screenshots — before deleting them from the over-full Dropbox folder to which they’d been uploaded. Also see the PHOTO DUMP series.
Sometimes the topmost two images on HILOBROW’s homepage rhyme in a fashion that I find amusing. I forwarded this June 8 screenshot to HILOBROW series editors Adam McGovern and Heather Quinlan with the subject line “I AM WHAT I AM.”
I’m coordinator of the SEMIOFEST SESSIONS — a monthly series of events intended not only to share best practices among, but to nurture collegiality and friendship within the global semio community. I greatly enjoyed June’s AI & SEMIOTICS session, and grabbed this screenshot from Tim Stock’s talk.
On July 14, I will participate in several panels at READERCON — an sf convention held every July in the Boston area. Tentatively, these panels will include: SF Treasures of the Radium Age (with Annalee Newitz); as well as two panels that I’m slated to moderate. Should be fun!
During 3Q2023, HILOBROW will publish CURVE YOUR ENTHUSIASM, a series of 25 enthusiastic posts on the topic of reconsidered enthusiasms; Adam McGovern is the series editor. HILOBROW friend Brian Berger will tackle the “torrid” novel shown here; let this series illustration (detail) stand for all the others. Stay tuned.
I’m still conducting Q&As with my fellow commercial semioticans from around the world — the series is currently booked out through February. Very rewarding, getting to discover what makes all these folks tick.
Installments in HILOBROW’s 4Q2023 series TROGG YOUR ENTHUSIASM — about proto-punk music from the Sixties (1964–1973) — are beginning to show up in my in-box. It’s going to be a fun one…
