I took the school year 1988–89 off, from Williams College. I lived in a basement apartment with my friends John and Kevin Cradock — and others who crashed there, including Angel “Papo” Hernandez. I was trying to write a novel. Shown above: Kevin giving me a haircut. Photo by John Cradock.
