Here’s a sneak peek at some of the items we’ll be publishing at HILOBROW in January, February, and March 2015!
BEST OF HILOBROW: 2010 | 2011 | 2012 | 2013 | 2014 | 2015 | 2016 | 2017 | 2018 | 2019 | 1Q2020 | 2Q2020 | 3Q2020 SNEAK PEEK.
HILOBROW’s Josh Glenn is one of the world’s most insightful and inspiring theorists of generativity. He’s often asked to speak at conferences such as SXSW and AWP on the topic of, for example, “The Secrets and Surprises of DIY Promotion” and “Finding Money, Time and a Place to Create: Upbeat News in a Down Economy.” (His most recent appearance was a Google Talk, here in Boston earlier this month, in which he and his long-time collaborator, Tony Leone, deconstructed their creative process.) You’re already familiar with Josh’s theory of Schmoozitsu, of course. Sometime in January, February, or March, we’ll publish his long-awaited theory of the Virtuous Circle of Procrastination (VCP). Naturally, we don’t know exactly when this post will appear; that would be a contradiction in terms.
Stay tuned!
We’ll continue to publish HiLo Hero items in 1Q2015. At last count, we’ve so far published over 1,300 installments in this series. In the first three months of 2014, we’ll publish several dozen more… including items on James Frazer, Lynda Barry, Herbie Nichols, Stanley Booth, Charles Addams, David Johansen, Simone De Beauvoir, and Vicente Huidobro.
We’ll also publish items on: Murray Bookchin, Pierre-Joseph Proudhon, John Bellairs, Euclides Da Cunha, John Belushi, Viktor Shlovsky, Lewis Carroll, Edward Abbey, and Tallulah Bankhead.
Not to mention: S.J. Perelman, John Ford, Frederick Douglass, Bob Marley, E.L. Konigsburg, Matt Groening, Edwin Denby, Sabato Rodia, and Rolando Hinojosa.
And more!
HiLoBooks will continue to serialize Helen MacInnes’s 1944 espionage adventure novel The Unconquerable, and William Haggard’s 1963 espionage adventure The High Wire (which will wrap up in late February).
Also! In February, we’ll begin serializing Hammond Innes’s 1951 espionage/crime/Robinsonade adventure Air Bridge. Set in England during the Berlin blockade and airlift of 1948–49, the novel’s protagonist is a mercenary pilot… but is he a traitor?
We’ll no doubt launch a third serialized novel during 1Q2015, as well.
More installments in HILOBROW’s various beloved series, including Code-X and Radium Age: Context.
PLUS: More installments in Douglas Wolk’s LIMERICKIANA series.
We’ll surely get one or two new series off the ground in 1Q2015, as well.
ALSO: Josh’s annual “Rondel for HiLo Heroes,” and Josh’s annual “Hypocrite Idler” humblebrag post.
