Seventeenth in a series of posts suggesting gifts for the hilobrows in your life this holiday season.
HiLobrow friend Dan Nadel runs the amazing press PictureBox. They published a number of titles in 2011, including Matthew Thurber’s graphic novel 1-800-MICE, James Jarvis’s ode to art vs. parental responsibility, De Profundis, and a new edition of Charles Willeford’s novel Cockfighter.
Nadel’s one personal project this year is Return of the Repressed: Destroy All Monsters 1973-1977, which he co-edited with Mike Kelley. Available in normal edition and groovy signed edition w/ print. “The first retrospective book of artwork created by the original members of Destroy All Monsters, the Ann Arbor-based performance/music/art group comprised of Mike Kelley, Cary Loren, Niagara, and Jim Shaw. Here are photos, drawings, prints, and collages created deep in the sludge of mid-1970s middle America.”
