LOLcat Media Studies 1: LeBron James

It might be said that ESPN’s one-hour hagiography/apotheosis of NBA mega-giga-peta-star LeBron James is a setback for Clay Shirky’s theory of the cognitive surplus. Aren’t we supposed to be making & sharing LOLcats instead of blissing out in front of the tube? But thanks to a certain gray puss, we can be confident that there’s room for both b-ball megalomania and the generous fecundity of the Internet.
