Superman and Lois are troubled by their super-genius son

At 5 p.m. EST yesterday, we stopped accepting contest entries for HILOBROW’s first micro-fiction contest. Something like 225 short-short stories about troubled and troubling superhumans were posted. The judges — HiLobrow editors Matthew Battles and Joshua Glenn, and HiLobrow contributor Matthew De Abaitua, whose 2009 novel The Red Men was short-listed for the Arthur C. Clarke award — will pick a winner and a few runners-up by Thursday night. On Friday, we’ll announce the contest’s results.

As promised, the winning story will be published on HiLobrow, along with the runners-up. We’ll also record the winning story as part of our next Radium Age Science Fiction podcast, and send the winner a snazzy HILOBROW t-shirt, to boot.

We’ll provide details about our second micro-fiction contest soon. Many thanks to the 225-ish entrants in this first one!
