The Nazis occupied Poland in 1939. This essay was written by Marie Curie’s daughter, Ève Curie — author of a 1937 bestselling biography of her mother. A citizen of France, Ève joined the Free French Forces of General Charles de Gaulle and started an active fight against Nazism.
