HERMENAUTIC TAROT (56)

One in a series of 24 posts completing the HERMENAUTIC TAROT. The first 54 installments were published in late 2015 and early 2016; a proper tarot deck contains 78 cards.

THE DUSTY REVEAL

It is time. The grass is green and strong. Roll out that carpet, the one that’s been propped up in the corner so long that you barely even see it any more. Your eyes move past it as an absence. You’ve forgotten its pattern. But it is solid and its pattern is an essential code. Get a friend to help you lay it out. The colours! The mistakes that mark it as unique! The dust sneezes that shake your head! It’s good that you waited. Looking at it now is a jump in time. Remind yourself. Lie on the grass on that carpet in the sun.

REVERSED: It is not time! Roll that shit up and put it away. You need to hold it together, not trace ancient patterns with a fingertip. The colours will keep for later. You’re not up for colours. Get into subtle shifts of grey.
