I’d like to hear Joe’s thinking about this one — I suspect that as a cartoonist he sees these panels differently than I do.
This is terrific! Here’s my weekly attempt to thank the curator with a new image at 4CP: http://4cp.posterous.com/did-you-hear-something-joe-alterio-does-4cp-f
@Josh: I noticed there’s two distinct camps in 4CP: the cropped image promoting a silent structural edifice of space, and then the image in which the crazy lines and colors are gathered into a bundle of manic frenzy, cropped so close as to make the image baffling. This is really the key to genius of John’s curation at 4CP, and I wanted to draw attention to at least the silent camp here. I also just really like that last Black Panther panel.
@John: Awesome!
[...] Over at HiLoBrow, editor Josh Glenn asked me to guest curate a new series they’re running, in which curators pick a few panels from the terrific blog 4CP, and group thematically. As expected, I made a little story out of mine. You can see it here. [...]
I love Joe’s post for drawing attention to the poetics of curation. It’s also fun to read the panels together as a story…
Personally I think this is in rather poor taste. If you had ben keeping up with Foreign Affairs you would no doubt realise that ‘Proud Wakanda’ is currently in ruins because Dr Doom decided he wanted some vibranium. But I supposetthe feelings ofmade-up people in imaginary countries means nothing to some people.
It doesn’t snow in Wakanda, does it?
