Tenth in a series of twelve posts celebrating our favorite Silver Age comic double entendres.

Hoover’s sidelong leer beside the caption “Tiger Bait,” gracing an issue of Calling All Boys: ’nuff said.
Jason Grote is a playwright, television writer, and librettist. His best-known play is 1001, a deconstruction of the tales of the Arabian Nights. He wrote for season one of Smash, and is currently a writer for Mad Men.
One of you learned chaps will remember an obscure publisher’s late Golden Age cover which featured a tousle-haired hero wearing a short toga, with the caption “Your New Favorite Pin Up”. It has been reprinted in a book about ‘them crazy comic covers’ but I can’t remember where or when.
It’s actually not really a double-entendre. It’s just straight-forwardly gay. So it probably doesn’t count. But it’d be good if someone could locate it.
I’m familiar with this toga cover… can’t think of the one you mention. Hm.
I bet you Craig Yoe will know it . Perhaps he republished it. Otherwise I dreamt it and obviously have repressed my true sexuality in a bid to fit in to suburban normalcy.
