Love the Bilko picture — worth noting that Doberman (Maurice Gosfield) refuses to take part in the dramatic tableau but insists on mugging straight into the camera lens. He does this on all similar publicity shots because he thought he was the star of the show (his vanity was written into the script after a while.) Silvers commented that Gosfield thought “he was Cary Grant playing a short fat slob.”
Maurice lived the high life after Bilko, and died pretty soon after the Top Cat voice-overs. I see a vague parallel with Hendrix, Morisson et al here….
